NSW Government Must Immediately Re-Establish Snowy Scientific Committee

At a community meeting in Orbost, on the Snowy River in East Gippsland, held Sunday 16th October, Snowy River Alliance called for the immediate re-establishment of the Snowy Scientific Committee.

"The independent Snowy Scientific Committee has a pivotal role in advising the NSW Government on the environmental releases to the Snowy River and other rivers affected by the Snowy Scheme," said Mr. John Gallard, Chairperson Snowy River Alliance.

"The Scientific Committee's first three-year term expired in May this year and despite a commitment at the time from the NSW Minister for Energy Chris Hartcher and Minister for Primary Industries (Water) Katrina Hodgkinson, the Committee has still not been re-established," said Mr. Gallard.
